Winter always paints coastal Southern California hills in morning fog. Most days it burns off quickly; but a few times a season it hangs around, dancing up canyons and over hills, concealing entire mountains from view.
One of those days filled me with awe, took away my breath and inspired Big Canyon, one in my series, “The Blues.”
On Sunday, that beautiful, dense fog forever transformed the landscape. It hid a mountain and stole Kobe Bryant and eight others.
The blues have come again. We grieve.
