A really sweet spot not far from my house is a neighborhood called Big Canyon.
Mature trees on rolling hills and canyons lush with foliage surprise a lot of people new to Orange County. Everybody thinks sand and shore. This is not that, but it sure is beautiful!
That beauty inspired this abstract landscape I painted with an intentionally limited palette. I like the way it turned out. I think I’ll do more like this in the future. BTW… Original is still available.
Big Canyon is an acrylic and ink painting on a 24×30″ deep, stretched canvas.
Payne’s Gray and Dioxazine Purple lay the base for hills, mountains, sky, rising from the deep.
How was that canyon created? Iceberg? Volcano? Earthquake? Palette knife, brush, fingers? What do you think?
